Selim Algar is the founder and co-publisher of the St. Johns Citizen, the county’s most-read news site, reaching more than 170,000 locals each month. He spent more than 20 years at the New York Post, covering a range of beats in New York City before serving as Florida Bureau Chief. His work has appeared in The New York Times and New York Magazine, among other outlets. 

A Ponte Vedra resident, he is the co-author of the #1 Amazon bestselling book "At Any Cost" and has appeared on NBC, CNN, Fox News, and other national networks as a featured guest.

Susan Griffin | Publisher | The Ponte Vedra Recorder

Susan Griffin is the publisher of the Ponte Vedra Recorder, which has served as the community newspaper of Ponte Vedra and the Beaches since 1969. She also serves as publisher of the bi-monthly magazine The First Coast Register and the quarterly publication Sand Castles.

Griffin began her career in publishing in 1996 when she joined The Recorder as an advertising account executive. She later served as sales manager for many years before being named publisher. Prior to joining The Recorder, Griffin owned travel agencies in Florida and Georgia.

A dedicated community leader, Griffin has been actively involved with the St. Johns County Chamber since 1997. She served for many years as Chair of the Ambassador Committee and has been recognized with numerous honors, including Ambassador of the Year, the Pat Morgan Outstanding Service Award, and Chamber Member of the Year. She was also recently named a Community Champion by the Ponte Vedra Beach Rotary Club at the annual Local Heroes Award Ceremony. Griffin currently serves on the St. Johns County Chamber’s Board of Directors and chairs the Ponte Vedra Beach Division St. Johns County Steering Committee.

In addition to her Chamber involvement, Griffin has held board positions with Community Papers of Florida, the Florida Media Association, and Overlook V Office Condominium. She is a Rotarian and a member of the Rotary Club of Palm Valley, and remains actively engaged in numerous charitable and community initiatives.

Griffin lives in Ponte Vedra with her husband, Danny. They have a daughter, Nicole, two grandchildren, Ella and Rhett, as well as one bird and seven cats.

A Connecticut native who has lived in St. Augustine since 2004, Kara Pound is the owner and founder of Old City Public Relations and publisher of the Instagram page @StuffToDoInStAugustine. She has a degree in communications with a focus on print journalism from Flagler College and spent more than a decade as a professional writer before starting her PR firm in 2017. Kara and her team have garnered media placements for clients in The New York Times, Edible Northeast Florida, Southern Living, and Jacksonville Magazine – to name a few.
