Applications/nominations open for chamber board members

Nominations are now open for five (5) at-large seats on the St. Johns County Chamber Board of Directors. Any active member in good standing* can nominate any other active member in good standing, including themselves.

Chamber board positions are three-year terms that correspond to the chamber's fiscal year, which begins annually Oct. 1. The Nominating Committee will review all nominations and recommend a slate to be considered by the Board of Directors and Board of Advisors at July's board meeting.

Members interested in nomination must review and agree to the Board Member Responsibilities and Expectations and attend the Board Orientation on Aug. 23, noon-1:30 p.m., and the Annual Strategic Session & Board Meeting on Aug. 28, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Board meetings are held in person on the fourth Wednesday of each month (third Wednesday in November and December). New board members are required to attend these meetings starting with the Aug. 28 board meeting.

CHAMBER BOARD APPLICATION/NOMINATION FORM

Areas of expertise and industry representation needed

The St. Johns County Chamber Board is a skills-based governing board. The following areas of expertise have been identified as being a need for the Board of Directors for 2024-25:

  • Strategic thinking: The chamber is embarking in the creation of a new 3-year strategic plan. A future board member who demonstrates skills including abilities in planning, strategizing, communication, and maximizing partnerships will add value to the current board.
  • Business development: As St. Johns County grows, the chamber is aligning its growth strategy. A future board member who demonstrates skills in business expansion, communication, sales, negotiation, marketing, data analysis, project management, and strategic partnerships will add value to the current board.
  • Technology: We are seeking a board member who can join forces with current board members to keep in the forefront the importance of the chamber to continue investing in technology and to help guide and shape the strategy for an Emerging Technologies Group.

In addition to the above-mentioned skill sets, we would like to encourage members in the following industries to consider submitting a nomination to the board:

  • Tourism and hospitality
  • Education

Please note that you may nominate someone whose expertise is outside of these areas of focus as well.

Applications/nominations must be submitted by 5 p.m. on July 14.

This is an opportunity for you to serve the St. Johns County business community. We are looking forward to another great year with strong board leadership!
