Press Release: Ability Tree First Coast Opens Treehouse
Ability Tree First Coast (ATFC) will have a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, October 17th, 5:00-6:00 PM. The St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce will conduct the ceremony between 5-5:30pm, with refreshments and Treehouse viewing to follow.
Ability Tree comes alongside families impacted by disability. Ability Tree Inc., its headquarters in Stuart, Florida, was incorporated as a nonprofit in June of 2010 by Florida native Joe & his wife, Jen Butler. Ability Tree was founded to come alongside families impacted by disability by providing R.E.S.T. (recreation, education, support, & training).
Ability Tree First Coast was planted in January of 2018 in St. Augustine, Florida, by Joanne Alicea to serve families like her own, who are impacted by disability. ATFC has been coming alongside families to provide REST through camps, respite socials, parent support groups, and family & community events. They also provide parents & caregivers referrals and resources in the community as they collaborate with other local organizations.
Ability Tree First Coast is excited to expand the organization’s impact in this new space, affectionately known as the Treehouse. This will allow for more socials, enrichment programs, and activities to be offered to individuals with disabilities and their families.
