Thursday, April 24, 2025 (6:30 PM - 8:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

In celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Lighthouse tower, the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum presents a lecture series titled History in the Shadow of the Tower. Our third lecture follows the rise of the tourism industry in St. Augustine under the leadership of Henry Flagler, Standard Oil partner and visionary, whose hotels and railroad forever changed our state. Dr. Leslee Keys will lead our presentation taking place at Memorial Presbyterian Church, built by Mr. Flagler in memory of his daughter. Funding for this program was provided through a grant from Florida Humanities with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Any views, findings, conclusions or recommendations expressed in this program do not necessarily represent those of Florida Humanities or the National Endowment for the Humanities.
