You will not only make these beautiful rings but gain confidence in basic silversmithing skills, including designing, sizing, filing, soldering, and finishing.
Designing: You’ll get to choose from a variety of sterling silver wire and patterned sheet for making the band.
Filing: Learn to appreciate the smooth and soft edges on your finger from a well-made ring, make your soldering more successful, and the product more appealing.
Soldering: You’ll get to melt metal to build a ring with a flawless seam and some tricks to solder more efficiently.
Finishing: You’ll get to make your finished product shiny or textured to fit whatever mood comes along. For this we will use a tumbler and/or hammers. Come join the fun and explore your creativity and develop a new skill.
Instructor profile: Eve Huggins labels herself as a hobbyist. For the last several years she has been teaching beginners skills and dabblers in bringing about their creative ideas. Eve has taught at the Jacksonville Gem and Mineral Society and Atlantic Beach Arts Market. She is pretty passionate about teaching and creating! During the class the following equipment is used: butane torch, pliers, sandpaper and or files, hammers, and citric acid.
