Joint Chamber at Noon with JAX Chamber: Inside Look at Northeast Florida's Athletic Landscape

The First Coast is home to an NFL team, an NCAA Division I university, professional soccer leagues, a prestigious professional golf tournament and the PGA headquarters, a minor league baseball team, and more, making the area a regional athletic hub. 

During this Chamber at Noon, co-hosted with JAX Chamber, a panel of representatives from local sports organizations will discuss the athletic landscape in St. Johns and Duval counties, including the impact on the local economy and business community.

Speakers include: 

Brette Sadler | Sr. Director of Marketing | Jacksonville Jaguars

Brette began her sports and entertainment career working for University of Miami Athletics, while she finished her BS in PR, Psychology and Minor in Sport Management. She joined the Florida Panthers Hockey Club & Sunrise Sports & Entertainment where her career launched her from ticket sales to senior director of partnership activation. After a memorable 13 years, she relocated to Atlanta, where she joined Octagon. Over the next six years, she worked on Home Depot’s partnerships. Looking for her next challenge, Brette headed west to the home of Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2011 and led the Global Marketing Partnership Activation team. While in LV she launched WISE Las Vegas in 2017 one of the highlights of her journey. After eight years, she was named Head of Corporate Partnerships at MGM Resorts International, where she led the team that focused on corporate partnership sales and client management. Brette then joined PRP in 2022, a full-service sports management company based in Las Vegas, working on the Shaq Foundation and partnerships with Jayson Tatum, Kamaru Usman and Haley Jones, and then went onto the Las Vegas Super Bowl LVIII Host Committee. After a whirlwind, milestone event, the Washington Commanders brought her on board to help restructure their new partnerships team. In July of 2024, she migrated back to the Sunshine State, where she now oversees Marketing for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Her rockstar team manages Marketing & Brand Strategy and looking forward to Stadium of the Future and everything in between!

Lee Smith | Vice President TPC Sawgrass Campus and Executive Director, THE PLAYERS Championship

In his role as Executive Director of THE PLAYERS, Lee oversees all aspects of the PGA TOUR’s flagship event, from sales, marketing and operations to community and charitable outreach and support. In addition, he leads THE PLAYERS Council, an association of corporate and community leaders who share THE PLAYERS’ commitment to economic growth and development. Lee joined THE PLAYERS team in 2023, and prior to that served as the General Manager at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey, a property managed by the PGA TOUR, where he was instrumental in helping the PGA TOUR contest THE NORTHERN TRUST in 2019 and 2021.

Smith has been a key member of the TPC Network since he joined in 2008, serving as Head Golf Professional at TPC Sugarloaf outside Atlanta; General Manager of TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas; and Regional Director of Operations for TPC Networks, a role he held concurrently with his position at Liberty National. He has been a Class A member of the PGA of America for more than 20 years.

Originally from Illinois, Smith graduated with a degree in Sports Management from Southeast Missouri State University (where he was a letterwinner on the men’s golf team) and later attended the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, where he earned a Masters in Sports Law & Business. Widely recognized as an outstanding golf professional, Lee has been named twice, in both 2013 & 2017, as Golf Professional of the Year for the Las Vegas Chapter PGA, and 2015 Golf Club Operator of the Year by Golf Inc. Magazine.

Sara Garcia-Malone | Director of Business Operations | Sporting JAX

Sara Garcia-Malone is a dynamic leader with a passion for fostering community relationships.  As VP of Operations at Sporting JAX, she leverages her expertise in strategic planning, operations, and community engagement to drive growth and enhance member experiences. Her ability to build strong partnerships and inspire positive change has made her a key figure in both her professional and personal communities. Sara ran a successful event management company founded here in St. Johns County and her events are still running around St. Augustine today. Now, in her current role, Sara oversees all daily operational tasks for the front office and technical side while working to grow the game around St Johns & Duval counties. 

Luke Nicholas | Executive Vice President of Zawyer Sports Jacksonville | Icemen Jacksonville

Luke has been with the Jacksonville Icemen since its Inaugural Season in 2017. Originally from Sanford, FL, Luke attended the University of North Florida where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing/Communications in 2017. Luke's current role as Executive Vice President of Zawyer Sports Jacksonville includes responsibilities directly tied to sales and service initiatives of each entity in the market, which includes the Jacksonville Icemen (Premier AA Affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild), Jacksonville Waves (Professional Women's Basketball), Community First Igloo, and 32 Degrees Marketing. Zawyer Sports and Entertainment is headquarted in Jacksonville, FL and owns, manages, and operates eighteen (18) entities across North America.
